Mrs Mac’s Top 5 Aussie Trips

It’s safe to say us Aussies are known for our keen sense of adventure and ingrained fearlessness in the face of the great outdoors! So, we at Mrs Mac’s have come up with our top 5 Aussie trips of all time, to get you inspired for the summer season ahead!

1.      Epicurean Way in South Australia

If you’ve only got a few days up your sleeve and you want to maximise on relaxing, wining and dining, take a trip through the wine country of Epicurean Way. Start (or end) in Adelaide and travel through four iconic South Australian wine regions; McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills, Barossa and Clare Valley tasting the local produce and wines along the way! You will be absolutely spoilt for cheeses, berries, wine and beer. And, if you want to explore on foot there is plenty to see, so stop in at the servo and fill your pockets with snack pies before taking a stroll to find yourself a view to picnic amongst!

2.      From Perth to the Ningaloo Reef

Perth is our hometown so we might be a little biased on this one, but nothing beats heading up the coast to Ningaloo, 1200 kilometres of West Australian goodness! You’ll cruise along the Coral Coast through Cervantes, Geraldton, Monkey Mia and Carnarvon towards Exmouth. On this trip, the turquoise of the Indian Ocean meets the rugged outback for jaw dropping backdrops to your striking summer selfies! There are plenty of places to stop for Mrs Mac’s to keep you going on the drive, and even more beaches to cool down along the away – make sure to keep an eye out for the whale sharks!

3.      The Iconic Great Tropical Drive

For an epic trip of breathtaking experiences, give yourself plenty of time to explore one of the country’s – nay the WORLD’s – most stunning tropical sites. Queensland is known for lush rainforests and of course the Great Barrier Reef with countless missions you can take along the way to make the most of this stunning region. This trip is ideal for the water adventurers with fishing trips, white water rafting, snorkelling (be conscious of the delicate reefs!) and surfing in the Coral Sea. Just make sure to keep your Famous Beef Pie away from the crocs!

 4.      Pacific Coast Road – Legendary!

Got 5 days up your sleeve? Pack the bags and take a trip between Sydney and Brisbane along the Pacific Coast Drive, alongside the vast Pacific Ocean. This is classic coastal Australia at its best, with dreamy beaches, surf for days, character filled seaside towns and National Parks to explore. Meander off the Pacific Highway as much as you can to indulge in all that this region has to offer. There are plenty of spots to camp or hire a house to rest before heading home – preferably somewhere you can heat up a plate of party pies to accompany the view from the deck!

5.      The Great Ocean Road

Arguably the most famous of all the amazing Aussie Roadies, this trip is for those wanting to drive along the coast, chill out, set yourself up somewhere and make it your mission to check out all the mini greats that make up the Great Ocean Road. Have a surf at Bell’s Beach, spot penguins on a day trip to Phillip Island and ponder the world in the face of the natural wonder of the Twelve Apostles. There’s countryside to be seen, wines to be tasted and waves to be paddled. Prepare your freezer before you go for an easy heat and eat dinner when you come home, exhausted from exploring the great Aussie backyard!
