Mrs Mac’s Dardanup Pie exclusive to Optus Stadium

Local partnership delivers exclusive stadium pie.

Western Australia’s iconic family owned savoury pastry producer, Mrs Mac’s, has partnered with one of the state’s best beef producers to create a mouth-watering, bakery-style pie, exclusively for Perth’s new Optus Stadium.

Together with the Dardanup Butchering Company (DBC), Mrs Mac’s is proud to unveil the MRS MAC’S Dardanup EverTender Steak Pie. It is made with prime cuts of slow cooked Angus Beef that meet the highest Meat Standards of Australia (MSA) gradings and which is sourced from the South West region of Western Australia.

This beef is combined with a rich, new gravy, premium vegetables, and seasoned to perfection, all encased in a specially crafted gourmet pastry that is light, flaky and airy.

The pie will be available in ten locations at the 60,000 seat Optus Stadium, including the Mrs Mac’s Pie Shop at the south-eastern end of the ground on level 1.

Member for Collie-Preston, the Hon. Mick Murray MLA, said, “Dardanup beef is up there with the best in the world and it is great that the Stadium’s only exclusive pie will be made with quality, locally sourced produce.

“Importantly, local beef farmers and processors will benefit directly from the MRS MAC’S Dardanup Pie. There will also be wider job-creating benefits for the region in industries that underpin the production chain, including transport, farm suppliers and other logistics.

“The pie will be a great marketing tool for the relatively undiscovered Dardanup and Ferguson Valley tourism region. The region is up there with the best in the South West and the MRS MAC’S Dardanup Pie will do its bit to help put the area on the tourism map.”

Mrs Mac’s Chief Executive Officer, Paul Slaughter, said the company was delighted to be partnering with such a quality producer, particularly as Dardanup Butchering Company is – like Mrs Mac’s – wholly, family and Western Australian owned.

“We pride ourselves in providing the best products, using the highest quality ingredients that put our brand in a class above others. This partnership with the Dardanup Butchering Company reflects this ongoing commitment.” Mr Slaughter said.

“We are also committed to supporting local suppliers wherever possible because it benefits our regional economies. This partnership is a boost for the local south-west region, which is becoming known worldwide for the quality of its produce.

“The concept for the exclusive Optus Stadium pie, using the best ingredients from local suppliers, was developed to give Mrs Mac’s a major point of difference as part of the stadium tender process.

Perth has produced a world-class stadium and visitors deserve to eat the best quality products Western Australia can deliver.”

Mrs Mac’s was recently announced as the exclusive supplier of pie and pastry products to the new Optus Stadium, beating eastern states producers to secure a five-year contract.

Supply of the MRS MAC’S Dardanup EverTender Steak Pie will commence exclusively for the Optus Stadium from January 2018.

Dardanup Butchering Company CEO, Mark Panizza, says the joint venture product was an exciting way to roll into the new calendar year. “We have been working with Mrs Mac’s now for many years and to see the Dardanup brand on and in one of their pies is a fantastic opportunity, both to showcase high-quality Angus beef and to recognise where it comes from.” Mr Panizza said.

“Our companies share many of the same values and to some extent the same journey. Like Mrs Mac’s, Dardanup Butchering Company is a wholly family owned, West Australian company that over a long period of time has created opportunities for many hundreds of West Australians. Our founder, Frank Panizza, began pushing a cutting cart throughout the Ferguson Valley and delivering product door to door and, today, we employ over 250 people and many of our producers are now 4th generation farmers that grow exclusively for Dardanup Butchering Company.”

‘The connection to the new stadium is one that we are very excited about. Our family has a rich sporting history in regional WA, particularly football in the south-west, so we are very pleased and very proud to be involved with Mrs Mac’s in this unique offering”.
